The Carly Chic - Things to Do in Annapolis, Maryland

Looking for a quick getaway but still close to DC? Be sure to check out the historic district of Annapolis, Maryland- less than an hour outside of the city.

Things to Do in a Day: Summer Edition

Known as the sailing capital of the U.S. and home to the U.S. Naval Academy, this city offers everything from your freshest seafood, boutique shops, and lots of fun water and outdoor activities for couples and families.

  • Paddle Board or Kayak on the Chesapeake Bay.

We used Annapolis Canoe and Kayak. It was $40 for 2 hours or $50 for the entire day. We went with the 2 hours because we knew that would be enough time. You have to go first thing when they open around 9am, otherwise you will get stuck waiting around on a waitlist. Also, bring your sunglasses, sunscreen, something to protect your phone from the water or a water proof speaker to listen to music while out on the water.

  • Try the Best Lobster Rolls!

After we worked up an appetite kayaking for two hours, we packed up and drove a few minutes away to Manson’s Famous Lobster Rolls. Easily the best lobster rolls we’ve ever had! Our favorite was the Connecticut Roll since it is served warm. We also ordered the Lobster Grilled Cheese which was also to die for!

  • Cool-off with some refreshing Ice Cream

Right up the street from lunch, we grabbed some ice cream at the Annapolis Ice Cream Company. There are tons of flavors to choose from all listed on the wall as you walk in. I tired the “Cookie Monster” which has homemade blue vanilla ice cream, cookie dough, Oreos, and chocolate chip cookies!

  • Explore the downtown Shopping District
Fours Sisters Boutique

There are tons of small little boutiques along the downtown Annapolis area. I founds some great deals at places like Four Sisters! There is lots of parking in the area.

  • Visit some Historical Attractions

Some of the top attractions to visit are the U.S. Naval Academy, Maryland State House, Ego Alley, Quiet Waters Park and the Annapolis Historic District.

I hope you enjoy planning your visit to Annapolis if you haven’t already! As always, be sure to check the weather before visiting!
